LockNet Under Construction: Hardhats Required

locknetIf you are a regular on our blog, you have probably picked up on the fact that LockNet has grown like gang busters over the last year. Empty desk space continues to dwindle and we have a running joke that we need a ticket system for our restrooms.

Well dear readers, all of that will change in about two months when LockNet moves into a brand-spanking-new office.

Is This Groundhog Day?

This may seem like Groundhog Day, because around this time last year, we moved our production and shipping into a new warehouse facility. We had more product than our old warehouse could hold and moved down the road to a much larger facility.

At the time, we kidded that we would someday outfit the old warehouse as an office. It turns out that the joke is on us, because that day arrived much sooner than anticipated.

LockNet: Movin’ on Up!

Late last year, the management team looked at the budget, scrutinized projected sales, and came to the realization that we would outgrow our current office facility within one or two years.

We explored a few different options and ultimately decided that revamping our John Watts Dr. warehouse was truly the way to go. After all, that facility has seen the Miller family through three different businesses (Igniter Products, Millex, and the LockNet production). Why not establish it as the home of the LockNet business operations?

LockNet COO Zach Willie drew up plans and worked with general contractors to bid out this massive undertaking. The decision was made to partner with Long Construction Management (LCM), and they have not disappointed. The site supervisor, James, is there every day to make sure things move along as scheduled.

We are all excited to see the progress.

  • Chad Miller (our CEO) and the IT team have spent countless hours with data wires;
  • The locking hardware is installed by Ian Greene is, as I write this blog post.
  • LCM graded the new parking lot.
  • The HVAC and sheet rock are finished.
  • Plumbing and roofing are near completion.

Everything should wrap up late-August, and we plan to move into our new home in early September.
