LockNet: Past, Present and Future

Bytes from LockNet > LockNet: Past, Present and Future

locknetI came back to work at LockNet after my maternity leave three weeks ago (yes, I did cry when I dropped my daughter off with the sitter). Despite the fact that my husband kept me fairly in-the-loop, I was floored by how much had changed during my leave.

My first shock was how difficult it was to find a parking place in the once spacious lot. The second was when I saw at least five new faces (now eight new faces), all of whom work in newly created positions.

All of this growth made me pause and reflect on how much has changed. I remember when LockNet was so much smaller. We started out in the basement of LockMasters, and when we moved to our current building, shipping was run out of the back (now converted to office space), and office operations inhabited a third of the front of the building. We now have only six empty desks in the entire office. Suffice it to say, we won’t fit in this facility much longer!

LockNet Back In The Day

Back in the day everyone at LockNet wore five or six different hats. I recall times we brought dinner to my Dad at the office some nights because a server had crashed. He would pull an all-nighter to fix the computer system and then head out on a sales call the next day. He was the president, salesperson, IT person, and service manager all rolled into one.

The amazing thing is there are plenty of people who still work here who can tell similar stories. In fact, some people have been with the Miller family through two businesses—Millex and LockNet. There are seven employees who have been with us for more than 16 years, and an additional eight who have been with us more than 11. So, you can imagine my shock when I came into work and, for the first time, didn’t know everyone’s name (I’m still trying to learn them, thanks baby brain!).

LockNet…Times, They are a Changinglocknet-service-dept

One of the keys to all of this growth is that LockNet has always been nimble and open to change. We have built our business model to adapt quickly to the needs of our customers, and thankfully so, because we have changed and grown at a rapid rate during the last three years. During that time, we have:

My abrupt re-entry to all of this change made me realize just how far LockNet has come and made me both incredibly proud of what my father started 21 years ago and excited for the future.
