LockNet’s Office Dogs & Their Crazy Antics

office dogsA while back I introduced you to our office dogs, or as we fondly refer to them, our Chief Morale Officers (CMOs).  I sincerely think these poochers hit the puppy lottery – they get loved on all day long.  As I write this post, Ollie is sitting in my lap with his chin on my laptop.

Every day, people come to my desk to visit with Cody and Ollie.  People occasionally will ask to leash them up and take them for a walk; I gladly oblige.  Kiwi is always up for a game of ball or Frisbee and is a regular with the lunch crew that goes outside to play corn-hole in the warmer months.  They bring a lot of joy and stress relief to our employees.

Now, while many of us love these dogs, they are not without their occasional hassles that sometimes make you laugh and sometimes make you growl.  If you have office dogs, you can probably relate to some of these.

Office Dogs & Their Crazy Antics

The Sandwich Bandit

If you are eating at your desk – beware.  Don’t leave your food unattended.  Even tiny little Ollie is resourceful enough to find a sneaky way to steal your food from your desk.  I can’t tell you how many subway gift cards I’ve handed out over the years.

The Trash Raider

Sticking with the food theme, don’t put that empty bag of chips in your trashcan.  It will get discovered and it will get destroyed…all over the office floor.  Ollie is the king of the trashcans here at LockNet.  You can always tell if Zach or I are here early or working late.  We have to go around picking up trashcans that he has knocked over.  It’s a good thing he’s so cute or he’d seriously be in the dog house some days!

The Yard Digger

Cody loves, and I do mean loves, the spring and fall at LockNet because the side yard is full of all sorts of animal scents.  His favorite place to pace, sniff, and dig, is around the AC units.  The other day, I went outside to check on him and was greeted with this.

Mud everywhere.  Thankfully we have a hose out back, so he got sprayed down and bathed as soon as we got home.  Zach went out and got some drainage gravel to keep this little mud mishap from repeating itself.

The “Play With Me” Beggar

Kiwi is slowly growing out of her puppy phase, but man, does she still love to play.  There are two balls that she is particularly fond of.  She will repeatedly bring them to you begging you to go outside and kick the ball for her.  Once you do go outside with her, she’s the queen of chewing on the ball and hovering over it until you attempt to kick it.  The ball rarely makes it more than three feet before she pounces on it.

While many of these office dog moments can be annoying, they can also be somewhat amusing depending on what kind of day you’re having.  Despite their hassles, I think (and hope) I speak for many when I say that the benefits of having these guys around is well worth all of their crazy antics.
