Dear Santa: How About Some Factory-Finished Doors for My Facility?

Bits from the Industry > Dear Santa: How About Some Factory-Finished Doors for My Facility?

factory-finished doorsDear Santa,

I don’t want to rush things, considering it’s not even December and all, but last year you pointed out I was a little late with my letter so I didn’t want to make the same mistake.

I know you’re in the business of granting requests so I thought I’d get mine in while I was thinking about it.

This year I’d like to request factory-finished doors. (Yes, I know you’re all wondering how I lead such an exciting life. You couldn’t handle it if I told you.)

Why Factory-finished Doors?

It might seem like a weird request. The word “factory” often has a negative connotation, but not in this case.

Let me explain.

There are a couple of ways your doors can be finished. You can either have  factory-finished doors or waste your time and money and go the field-finished route. (It sounds a little harsh, I know, but I’m only speaking the truth here.)

Factory-finished doors are finished in a controlled environment, guaranteeing they have the same atmosphere every single time. This leads to less room for mistakes. In the field, you have myriad of variables you can’t control and this makes it way harder for you to finish.

On top of that, they are less expensive. Field-finished doors require contractors to come into the field to finish each door as specified, which  can add up over time. Plus, when you order factory-finished doors, they come with a warranty. That, in and of itself, is hard to pass up! More often than not, factories will come out and replace a factory-finished door years later. That alone saves your wallet some heartbreak.

Overall, factory-finished doors are a better product. The finish they use is UV cured. This makes for a harder finish. With field-finished doors, you typically have a urethane finish from a local paint store that just can’t withstand the same years of wear and tear.

I know it might seem like an odd request, Santa, but come on. Look at what I write about for a living! Of course, I want something door and lock related for the holidays! If you can make this happen, I’d be forever grateful.

In the meantime, if you have any questions for us, I’m sure with you being Santa and all, I can bump you to the top of the list. Just fill out the Contact Form. I’ll get you taken care of ASAP.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Whitney
