LockNet Office Door Tour: The Laminate Door

LockBytes > LockNet Office Door Tour: The Laminate Door

laminate doorWe recently moved into a new office building and when you work for a company that specializes in doors and locks, you get pretty excited at the chance to showcase a door in your very own office.

It’s not every day we get to enjoy the doors we choose for a facility, so when you spec doors and hang them in your own building, it’s  pretty darn rewarding to show them off.

(I just used the universal “you” there. I didn’t spec these doors myself.)

To that end, we thought a Door Tour series to show you what’s here would be fun for both of us!

First stop on the Door Tour is Zach Willie, our chief operating officer.

Door Tour:The Two-Toned Laminate Door

Zach is a big fan of Virginia Tech. It’s his alma mater and he has always had his desk decked out with Virginia Tech souvenirs. When we moved to the new building, he jumped at the chance to show a little bit of that school pride in something bigger than a trinket.

The laminate door he chose is a solid core, plastic laminate, which comes with the option to have it in two separate tones. On the outside, the door is a really dark brown, and on the inside he opted to have the Hokie’s signature maroon color.

Laminate doors are a great choice for almost any entryway. They come with a lifetime warranty which means you’ll never have to refinish or repaint the door. They’re also incredibly easy to clean and maintain. And, because  they’re water resistant, cleaning them can range from hosing them down to just wiping them off with the towels. With laminate doors, you have both options.laminate door

Zach’s door is also equipped with freewheeling trim, which allows the leverset to move on the outside of the door, but doesn’t actually turn the latch when the door is locked from the inside. This helps because you don’t have people trying to push down on the lever to get the door to open when it’s locked. It still moves freely, but the latch doesn’t so there’s no undue pressure when the door is locked and someone tries to enter.

So there you have it! The first door on our Door Tour. Stay tuned for the next door on the tour. In the meantime, if you have any questions about laminate doors or are interested in purchasing one for your facility, give us a shout.
