We started off this series with our chief operating officer’s laminate office door. The two-toned laminate door is a great way to add a little personalization to an office door and can be done so easily.

However, what if you want something that opens up the room a little more?

This week I get to introduce you to our frameless glass conference room door.

Door Tour: Frameless Glass Door

The frameless glass door on our  conference room is one of my favorites. It’s beautiful, opens the room up and has a very edgy, modern feel to it.

When it comes to frameless doors, it’s actually very difficult to get truly frameless doors. There are a few stipulations and we were just lucky enough to have a spot where we could use a frameless glass door and have it actually work with the opening.

These doors can’t be weather sealed so they wouldn’t work in any room that is exposed to the elements. They also aren’t soundproof so they aren’t ideal for rooms where confidential information is discussed.

This frameless glass door, in particular, is a double acting door, which means it can swing both in and out. There’s no frame to stop it, which makes for easy access.

We added a full length vertical pull to the door to finish off the look. Any size pole can be used but we went with the floor-to-ground pole for a more full length look, but if you would rather use one that’s smaller or if you need a leverset that locks, those are also options.

When it comes to personalization, the entire door is your canvas. You can have any design etched into the glass of the door. This can also be done in color, which gives, your door a much more personal feel and look.

The big kicker on this door are the hinges it uses. These Dorma Tensor Double Acting Hinges are able to be screwed into the wall as opposed to a normal frame, but they also use compression as a way to help the door have a more seamless swing when in use. They’re extremely quiet, which is really handy when you’re in an area where people need a lot of concentration or spend a lot of time on the phone and need to be able to hear customers on the other end of the line.
