Jeff Jasper, LockNet’s Production Manager and the inventor of the RiteThru tool, is one of the most creative people I know. I have had the pleasure of knowing Jeff Jasper since I was a teenager – he taught me how to pin a lock and would often challenge me to see how many cores I could pin in a minute. Even back then I remember Jeff always thinking of ways to do things different, better, and faster. It is this creative drive that spawned the invention of the RiteThru tool – a tool that allows you to easily drill Rite Thru the door (if you hadn’t picked up on it – he’s also quite the comedian).
Growing up, Jeff could be found tucked away with electric motors, trains, model cars, and airplanes– at a young age he began tinkering, taking things apart, and putting them back together. This skill followed him throughout his life and has spawned all sorts of ideas, many of which we have implemented at LockNet to improve operations and increase efficiencies.
Like many inventions, the idea for the RiteThru tool came from a desire for everyday convenience. While reading through a set of Lockmasters instructions he wondered how he could make the installation process simpler. This rough idea was refined into the RiteThru.
To help him develop the initial concept, he enlisted the help of the most creative person he knows – his father. As the two of them talked, they expanded the initial idea into something that would allow a door to be prepped to install virtually any hardware ranging from locks, to closers, to exit devices, to windows. You name it – the RiteThru can do it. This tool allows you to drill straight through a door at any angle and ensures that your holes will line up exactly as they should. Jeff’s creative genius doesn’t stop at the RiteThru – he has also developed a safe that looks just like your water heater (I’ll share more on that invention in another post) and has countless ideas for other ingenious products. Suffice it to say that Jeff and his creative mind are an invaluable asset to LockNet and we are honored to have him as part of the team.
