Did you know they got rid of the Flu Mist this year?
Do you know what the Flu Mist is?
The Flu Mist was a heaven-sent alternative to the flu shot and children rejoiced because, hallelujah! No more flu shot.
That is until they found out the Flu Mist wasn’t working quite as well as the flu shot and children were still getting sick and guess what, kids. It’s back to the ol’ needle in the arm.
And everywhere there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.
(Wait. Was that just my kid?)
Anyway, the point of that entire ramble is winter is upon us and along with that comes flu season. While you may think avoiding germs is impossible this time a year if you aren’t armed with giant vats of hand sanitizer, I have good news. The Flu Mist may be gone and you and your child may be stuck with getting stuck, but we have antimicrobial door pulls with CuVerro and hands-free restroom kits!
Antimicrobial Door Pulls Made with CuVerro
If you want to start out the lower end of the cost spectrum, antimicrobial door pulls are a great starting point. Granted, these are more expensive than the standard door pull, but well worth it if germs are a concern.
Trimco makes an excellent option for a hands-free pull with a special copper called CuVerro. The pull allows you to avoid using your hands to open the door and, instead, the patron uses their forearm to pull the door toward them.
There are less germs on your forearm overall, but CuVerro is a copper-based alloy that kills more than 99.9% of the bacteria that comes in contact with it within two hours. This is extra protection given to you right out of the starting gate.
Hands-Free Restroom Kits
Another option to reduce germs this cold and flu season is the hands-free restroom kit. There aren’t many grosser places than a bathroom door pull and if you can avoid them, you should. A hands-free restroom kit gives you that opportunity!
They come equipped with a motion sensor that trips a relay when a customer’s hand is swiped in front of it. This triggers the door operator and the door opens, allowing you to exit with germ-free hands.
These are more expensive, but are definitely the best way to avoid germs.
