Iincrease door securityncrease door security in a facility on a budget? It’s the American Dream, right?

Ok, maybe not exactly, but it is something people actually want to achieve. However, there’s no way to deny the door and hardware industry is expensive.

It just is.

But if you do your research, you can find products that work with your budget and achieve the security you want.

You might be surprised at some of the simple changes you can make in your hardware that will manage to increase your security, and that’s what we’re here for. We can guide you along the way.

Inexpensive Hardware Choices to Increase Door Security

Latch Guard

A latch guard is an incredibly simple, but incredibly handy, little piece of equipment.

(When I explain it to you, you’re going to immediately kick yourself and think, “Why didn’t I think of that?! I could be rolling around on a bed covered in hundred dollar bills right now if I had!”)

(That might just be me.)

A latch guard is a metal plate that covers the space between the door and the frame. This prevents people from using a tool to shimmy open the latch and gain access to your facility. These are sold at any home improvement store and come with easy-to-install instructions.

It’s important to note these have to be used on outswinging exterior doors.

See? I told you it was simple.

Peepholes

Peepholes have been around for ages, but because they’ve been around for so long, I think people underestimate their usefulness.

They allow you to get a glance at who may be knocking at your door or simply to peer through if you hear any suspicious noises. These provide a great way to screen visitors and enable you to allow people access inside your facility.

It’s facial recognition the old-fashioned way. Easy install makes the peephole a popular choice for many facilities that want to increase their security.

Solar Floodlights

While there aren’t any documented statistics on whether or not flood lights will increase door security of your facility, common sense points to yes. Any light is going to deter burglars from tampering with facility doors and that, in turn, is going to increase your security.

Solar floodlights are easy to instal and are budget friendly as you use no electricity while they’re in use.

These, like peepholes and latch guards, can be found at any home improvement store and come in a variety of different styles.

EAX 500 Alarm

Our last suggestion is my personal favorite. The EAX 500 Alarm can be surface mounted to almost any door with close to zero knowledge. When the door is opened, the magnetic field between the alarm and the frame is broken and the alarm will sound.

This is an easy solution that alerts you whenever the door has been propped open, If someone from the inside has left through a prohibited door, you’ll know.
