Key System Twitter Chat

Bytes from LockNet > Key System Twitter Chat

Key SystemSocial Media has become one of the greatest tools for engaging and interacting with others on a larger scale. This has proven to be especially helpful in a professional aspect as businesses have begun to use this to their own advantage, both from a business to business aspect, as well as from a business to customer aspect. Yesterday, LockNet hosted a Twitter Chat and it allowed us to get a discussion rolling about key systems and everything that goes along with them.

Who Was There

We were joined by Jessica Lewis – Marketing Coordinator and Cita Doyle – Director of Sales and Marketing from Instakey as well as Ginny Powell – Digital Marketing Specialist, Brian Clarke – Keying Expert, and Dennis Hoskins – Product Manager of Locks from Hager Companies. We were also joined by Gale from Cygnus. It was nice to get different views on what current problems these two companies were seeing with key systems as well as the best practices they had in place. Since we were hosting, we put together some questions we were interested in getting different points of view on.

Key System Insights

Everyone involved had different answers and it was nice to really hone in on what people were getting out of using key systems as well as seeing where they were having issues. With the constant flow of Twitter, the conversation stayed at a pretty steady pace with everyone contributing their thoughts and opinions.

One of the aspects the chat allowed us to focus on was master key systems and why they’re so popular.  The topic of managing key systems also came up and it was a unanimous agreement that it is incredibly important for the end user to have a single person responsible for managing the key system. This helps keep records straight and saves the facility owner from dealing with a pretty big hassle. Moreover, this person needs to establish and enforce policies and procedures.  Without these, the best planned key system will lose its integrity.

We plan on hosting another Twitter Chat soon. If you happened to miss the key system chat yesterday, no worries. We’ve used to Storify to summarize the chat and it’s all available right here.

We haven’t decided on a topic for the next chat yet, but if you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave them in our comments. We value the information and feedback we get from customers as well as anyone else in our industry and definitely look forward to hearing from you.
