If you’re in the process of a constructing a new building, this is inevitably a choice coming your way and one you should be informed about so you can manage to save yourself money in the long run.

Let’s discuss the differences, shall we?

Painted Doors

Inexpensive

No one dislikes the idea of saving money. Painted doors are less expensive than their laminate door counterparts, which can be a very big pull for many people. If price point is your main contender, painted doors are definitely worth more of your time.

No Pre-Ordering

“Pre-order” is something you’ll hear a lot about when it comes to getting anything customized on your hardware specification. It’s just the way of the world and we all have to accept it for what it is, (forever and ever, amen) EXCEPT when it comes to painted doors. With these guys, there’s no pre-ordering and to some people that is absolute music to their ears. This is especially true for someone who’s on a pretty strict timeline.

Low Traffic Door

So far we’ve determined painted doors are inexpensive and don’t require pre-ordering. Why isn’t everyone running out to buy painted doors, you ask? Well, it’s because they’re typically best option for an interior door that doesn’t see a lot of traffic. That kind of narrows down your choices now, doesn’t it? But that’s ok! There are still plenty entryways that fit that description and painted doors can work perfectly in those situations.

Laminate Doors

Durable

Unlike painted doors, laminate doors can withstand a lot of use so high traffic areas are perfect. These guys are durable and can hold up in a variety of situations. Of course, a key to their durability is being factory finished. When you get doors laminated in the field they’re prone to chipping and peeling and can be very difficult to repair.

Customizable

Laminate doors are customizable, but they’re more expensive and require a pre-order. Neither of those things are necessarily a bad thing; it just depends on your situation. If you have the time and budget to manage those two factors, laminate doors can be the perfect solution for you. You can get many, many options to work with the style of your building.

Easy to Clean

Because laminate doors are often used in high traffic areas, they need to be cleaned quite regularly. When you’re dealing with a painted door this can be a problem. Disinfectant and cleaning solutions can sometimes harm the paint and cause damage to the door. With a laminate door, this is something you don’t have to worry about.

Lifetime Warranty

Many laminate doors come with a lifetime warranty. That, in itself, is money back in your pocket if the time comes for your door to be repaired. This is attractive to many folks and reason enough alone to purchase a laminate door for interior entryways.

There you have it. Both doors have their advantages, but depending your building, one might be more suited for you than the other.
